Wrightsville Beach is a stunning beach to visit, there is no doubt about that. Sometimes, though, you want a beach experience that doesn’t feel crowded, and doesn’t leave you sitting in traffic for who knows how long. So let us tell you a bit about Masonboro Island.

This beautiful stretch of barrier island remains so private because it’s only accessible by boat. Locals love it for the diverse wildlife, the pristine conditions maintained, and, of course, the beautiful waters. It is the largest undisturbed barrier island in southern NC, and is comprised majorly of marsh and tidal flats. On the Atlantic side, you’ll find beautiful beach uplands, where you can swim, surf, or simply soak up the sun. On the Masonboro Sound side, fish like summer flounder, menhaden, and bluefish use it as a nursery.

While there are public boat ramps near Wrightsville and Carolina Beach, it is an incredible opportunity to find a private ramp to use. Right off Greenville Loop Road, we have a home sitting on an incredible 3 acres of lawn, forest, pond, and garden. It is a rarity to find such a large piece of land in Wilmington, and to add private boat access to the waterway makes this property an unbelievable find.
