As nonresidents of NC, we needed to identify replacement properties for a 1031 tax exchange. Sherwood was recommended as an exceptional realtor. And, from our experience, he most certainly is. My family just relocated to Wilmington, NC. My new employer recommended Sherwood and Diane as realtors. This was the greatest recommendation. They have great area knowledge and connections. Every part of the process seemed to go flawlessly. The search was quick due to the advance list of available inventory that was given to us ahead of the home visits. Once we identified the top candidates, Sherwood took me back and spent as much time as I needed to be sure we were making a good decision. During the negotiation, they were able to get us a price that we were comfortable with and have the seller fix one “high priced” concern we had. We were able to move fast, but not to rush. I felt like I got the house I wanted after viewing several representative ones. I found the process straightforward and efficient, as I was living in Raleigh and commuting to Wilmington, which was very stressful and time-consuming. They had narrowed down viable properties for me so we looked at properties on 3 occasions, and I bid on two properties almost immediately after seeing them. His advice was sound and to the point, as Sherwood knows the market in Wilmington very well. They also followed through, and quickly responded, so this kept the ball rolling and we were able to get into a contract within a few weeks. The inspection was negotiated well, and items were corrected within the diligence period. Diane kept the paperwork moving at a brisk pace. For our move from Connecticut to North Carolina, we interviewed 6 realtors. Sherwood had us when he said “I will handle both ends of this for you”. He did just that. He found us the best selling agent in our CT area (not even with Coldwell Banker!), and coordinated the entire process with him, sometimes on a daily basis. Sherwood was helping us look down here by remote control 2 months before we sold in CT. Once we got down here, Sherwood and Diane worked non stop. Calls returned in minutes. Showings sometimes within hours. We ended up deciding to build and their knowledge of that process was amazing. They found us everything we needed – insurance, even construction financing! I had a wonderful experience as an out of town buyer looking for a vacation home near Wilmington. After months of on-line hunting, I finally decided to go with Sherwood and within two days put a bid in on a perfect home…after a few days of negotiations, the property was mine! We had some difficulties with the home being occupied by an uncooperative tenant, but Sherwood was very diplomatic but firm and all inspections and repairs were handled. Sherwood and Diane were both extremely knowledgeable and professional with our home buying experience. They made sure to find homes within our budget and that had our list of must-haves. When we were ready to see a home(s) they made it available to view that day or the following day. The responsiveness of any questions we had was also taken care of immediately. We also appreciated all local information given to us after seeing each home as far as distances to the nearest highways, main intersections, beaches, downtown, shopping centers, etc. They would also show us the quickest route to get home or to local attractions. Since we are new to Wilmington, this was very helpful as it allowed us to explore and learn the area around us. I’m not sure where to start with how great Sherwood and his wife Diane were! This is my third home that I’ve purchased and I can say I have never worked with such a great team of realtors as I did with Sherwood and Diane. They catered to our every need and want with the search for our perfect home and made everything realistic we wanted, happen! Wow is the best way I can sum it up. Being someone who was credit challenged, Sherwood helped my wife and I find a wonderful home as a rental that we lived in for a few years (he received no compensation for doing so). Over the past 4 years he stayed in touch with my family, and I finally asked him to see what he could do about helping us buy our first home together. I didn’t think it would be a reality but exactly 2 months after sending him that text my wife and I were able to close on a beautiful brand new home. About five years ago, we were searching for a home in Wilmington, NC. Sherwood and Diane were available whenever we needed them. Because we lived in MA, we could not always fly down to look at every house; so Sherwood and Diane looked at the houses, took photos, and emailed them to us.
